New York City’s COVID-19 positivity rate remained below 3 percent Saturday as cases continued to surge upstate, the latest numbers show.

The positivity rate in the Big Apple stood at 2.56 percent Friday, while it was 4.58 percent statewide, when measured on a seven-day average, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.

Hochul said a team of 16 nurses from Northwell Health was dispatched upstate Saturday to help out at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo and the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital.

The positivity rate in Western New York was 9.88 percent Friday.

There were 59 COVID-19 deaths across the state Friday, with nine in New York City.

Another seven cases of the Omicron variant were identified in the state — all in the Big Apple — bringing the total to 30.
