Jeep driver killed, SUV destroyed after falling off NYC bridge

An SUV was demolished when it plummeted off the Third Avenue Bridge and landed on its roof after colliding with another vehicle in the Bronx Sunday morning, cops said.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was merging into the southbound lanes of the Major Deegan Expressway from the East 135th Street entrance just before 5 a.m. when the vehicle struck an Audi A6 that was traveling south on the roadway, cops said.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead on the scene. The 23-year-old Audi driver was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

There were no arrests. Investigators were picking through the debris to determine the SUV driver’s identity, a police spokesman said.
