De Blasio applauds successor Eric Adams’ ‘fun’ ‘Late Night’ weed gag

Mayor Bill de Blasio gave rave reviews to his successor’s late night TV debut, labeling Mayor-elect Eric Adams’ gag in which he whipped out a prop dime bag of weed “fun.”

“I just think it was fun,” he said when a reporter asked during a Wednesday morning virtual press briefing about the performance.

“He was playing around,” the mayor added. “Eric’s got a great sense of humor, and I really just appreciate that he had a good time on that show.”

During an appearance on CBS’ “Late Show” that aired Tuesday night, Adams cracked up audience members when he retrieved rolling papers and a mock bag of “weed” from his coat and handed them over to host Stephen Colbert, after offering him some Big Apple-centric goodies.

“He’s like funny-funny — not like politician-funny,” an audience member gushed to The Post Tuesday night.

While noting that “marijuana is legal and Eric supports its safe personal use” Adams’ campaign spokesman, Evan Thies, clarified that the mayor-elect didn’t actually purchase any pot for the show.

Adams, who will take office on Jan. 1, also spoke about his philosophy on taking in New York City’s nightlife.

“I’m the mayor(-elect), this is a city of nightlife — I must test the product. I have to be out,” Adams, currently the Brooklyn borough president, said during the Tuesday night.

“If you’re going to hangout with the boys at night — you got to get up with the men in the morning. And I’m up at 5 a.m. every morning.”
