A child was killed when a blaze ravaged a New Jersey home early Friday, according to a new report.
The fire erupted in the Somerville home on Eastern Avenue around 2:15 a.m., and firefighters responded to reports of residents trapped in the home, WABC reported.
Video recorded by a neighbor and obtained by the station shows flames shooting out of the windows.
Four people were rescued, but a child did not make it out, the station reported. The child’s gender and age were not immediately released.
Witness Timothy Mason said firefighters weren’t able to enter until they fought back the flames.
“They feel bad because they can’t get in to help when they get here,” Mason told the station. “Like I said, that was a fully involved structure.”
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, which is leading the investigation into the cause of the blaze, did not immediately return a call for comment from The Post.
